I provide Individual (Adult and Child), Couple and Family Therapy, Addictions-Informed services, and Psychosocial Groups with a focus on anger management.
I’ve provided social services in multiple settings since entering the field as a Health Service Worker at Topeka State Hospital in 1978. In that time I’ve labored within inpatient settings, served as a Case Manager for children and adults, worked as a foster/adoption recruiter, Family Support Worker, Child Support Specialist, and Academic Para in a Juvenile Detention Center. In 2015, I returned to college and obtained a baccalaureate of Social Work with a minor in poverty studies May of 2019; and continued on to earn a Masters of Social Work in the spring of 2020 and gained my professional state licensure in 2020.
My professional desire is to serve with others while also having creative control of my brand of Social Work. My service targets marginalized communities, focusing on academic, economic, policy, and organizing community leaders to develop a sustainable infrastructure that a therapeutic process could thrive within. In April of 2020 I took another step towards this goal with Pat Herrera-Thomas & Associates where I’m currently in pursuit of obtaining my Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker level.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, The Bowen Family Systems Theory combined with awareness of cultural narratives have proven to be basic essentials of offering a healthy therapeutic process to the families and individuals I serve and these are the types of solutions I can help you find and create for yourself and your life.
I will do so in an authentic, honest, trustworthy way. I will sit with you in the hard places while you work yourself towards your solutions and will affirm for you – your visibility and ability to be in charge of yourself in your life.
